Description
Born out of Doug Aldrich’s work with John Suhr, the Aldrich neck humbucker was built to be the other half of a genuinely balanced high-output set. Suhr calibrated this neck pickup specifically to match the output of the Aldrich bridge unit, so you’re not stuck with a screaming bridge pickup and a mushy neck pickup that can’t keep up.
Despite being Suhr’s hottest neck humbucker to date, it never turns into mud. String-to-string definition stays intact even under heavy gain, with lows that stay tight and controlled rather than ballooning out. The mids carry real warmth without getting boxy, and the top end sings sweetly instead of turning brittle or harsh.
That balance makes it genuinely versatile. Dig into chunky rhythm crunch and it holds together with authority. Back off the gain for bluesy leads and it opens up with singing sustain and touch sensitivity. Push it into high-gain lead territory and it stays fluid and articulate through fast runs and bends. Wherever you land on that spectrum, the Aldrich neck pickup responds to your picking dynamics rather than flattening them.
- DC Resistance: 9K ohms
- 4-conductor wiring for series/parallel and coil-split options
- 50mm string spacing (Gibson-style)
- Black cover
Pair it with the Aldrich bridge humbucker for a genuinely matched set built for aggressive rock playing that still leaves room for nuance.
