Description
The DSV neck pickup is Suhr’s answer to the classic humbucker sound that so many players spend years chasing. Rather than piling on output and compression, it’s voiced with a wide dynamic window that lets your picking touch and volume knob actually do something. Where the SSV leans into more midrange honk and snarl, the DSV is the smoother-voiced sibling, favoring silkier highs while still keeping that unmistakable vintage character intact.
This is the neck-position version, wound to 8K ohms DC resistance and wired with 4-conductor cable, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting, series/parallel switching, or whatever wiring scheme your build calls for. It comes on a white bobbin here, though Suhr also offers these in black and zebra depending on the look you’re after.
None of this is guesswork on Suhr’s part — this pickup reflects three decades of John Suhr’s own R&D into what actually makes old-school humbuckers sound the way they do, translated into a modern, consistently-wound production pickup. If you’re restoring a guitar’s vintage voice, or just want a neck pickup that breathes instead of squashes, the DSV is built for exactly that job.
