The Suhr ML Classic neck pickup is the foundation of Michael Landau’s signature tone stack — a single-coil built to deliver bright, punchy character without straying into thin or brittle territory. It’s part of the broader ML series, which pairs tight low-end control with a focused midrange and a top-end that stays smooth rather than harsh.
What sets the ML pickups apart is their modified staggered pole piece layout. Rather than relying on old-school staggering that assumes a vintage neck radius and lighter strings, Suhr reworked the pole heights to produce a more even magnetic field across the string set — a real advantage on modern flatter-radius necks and with today’s typical string gauges.
This neck-position unit is wound to 6.0KΩ DC resistance and built around an Alnico V magnet, giving it that classic single-coil sparkle with just enough push to stay articulate under drive. It’s wired with braided cloth hook-up wire for a clean, road-worthy connection, and finished in black to slot straight into most Strat-style pickguards.
