The ML is what happens when John Suhr sits down with a killer stash of vintage single-coils and asks, “what actually makes these sound so good?” Built with direct input from LA session great and solo artist ML, this pickup distills the best traits of classic 60’s-style tone into one calibrated design – snappy top end, punchy lows, and none of the thin or brittle character that plagues lesser clones.
This particular unit is the middle-position pickup, wound reverse-wind/reverse-polarity (RWRP) so it cancels hum when blended with your neck or bridge pickup in positions 2 and 4. Every ML is voiced specifically for its slot in the pickup set rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all coil, which is a big part of why the set holds together so well across a strat-style pickguard.
Available in two flavors:
- Standard – slightly hotter output, 6.4K ohms DC resistance for this middle pickup
- Classic – more vintage-voiced, 6.0K ohms DC resistance for this middle pickup
