Description
The SSH+ is Suhr’s answer for guitarists who want humbucker punch with a bit more top-end snap. Where the DSH+ leans smooth with its double row of screws, the SSH+ uses a single row of screws paired with a single row of slugs, giving it a brighter, more cutting voice that still holds together under gain.
Built with a hand-selected Alnico V magnet and premium winding components, this pickup pulls the natural character out of your guitar’s wood rather than fighting it. It reads DC resistance of 17 kOhms at the bridge and comes wired with 4-conductor hookup wire, so you’ve got the flexibility to run series, parallel, or split configurations depending on your wiring setup. Fits standard 50mm Gibson-style pole spacing.
Tonally, the SSH+ covers serious ground – clean and articulate for jazz-rock fusion, aggressive enough for classic rock and 80’s shred, and tight enough to stay clear when you push into modern high-gain territory. It’s one of Suhr’s most requested standard-output pickups for good reason: it delivers authority and clarity without ever sounding one-dimensional.
Suhr Guitars has built its reputation since 1997 under JS Technologies Inc., founded by John Suhr and Steve Smith. Their pickups are engineered off the best vintage-voiced designs, and players like Guthrie Govan, Scott Henderson, Doug Aldrich, and Kirk Fletcher rely on that combination of detail and tone. ProAudioLand was named Suhr’s 2015 Electronics Dealer of the Year.
