Description
The SSV+ takes the classic vintage PAF recipe and turns up the intensity just enough to hold its own in the bridge position. Built by Suhr for guitarists who want the woody midrange and airy top end of an old-school humbucker without losing definition when the gain kicks in, it’s equally at home carving out blues leads, driving classic rock rhythm tones, or adding grit to jazz-fusion runs.
Under the hood you’ll find an Alnico V magnet and 4-conductor hookup wire, giving you the flexibility to split coils or wire it for series/parallel setups if your guitar’s controls allow. Bridge-position DC resistance sits at 10k Ohms, landing it firmly in the output range where PAF sweetness meets modern push – enough grind to cut through a dense band mix, but never so hot that it loses touch with dynamics or pick attack.
This particular pickup is finished in a Zebra bobbin combo and built to Gibson-style 50mm spacing, so it drops straight into most humbucker-routed bridge positions without modification.
- Magnet: Alnico V
- DC Resistance: 10 kOhm (bridge)
- Hook Up Wire: 4-Conductor
- Color: Zebra
- Spacing: Gibson-style, 50mm
Suhr’s pickups are built by JS Technologies, the team behind Suhr Guitars since 1997, with a reputation among players from Scott Henderson to Guthrie Govan for pickups that sound as considered as the guitars they’re built for. If you’re chasing vintage humbucker character with a bit more spine, the SSV+ bridge is worth a serious listen.
