Description
Some humbuckers chase output numbers. The SSV chases feel — the open, breathing dynamics of real vintage PAF-style tone, minus the compressed, papery top-end that plagues a lot of high-output designs. John Suhr spent three decades refining this voicing, and the bridge SSV is the snarlier, hairier sibling in the SSV/DSV family — more bite and honk where the DSV leans smoother on top.
This particular unit is wound to the SSV bridge spec at 9K ohms DC resistance, wired with 4-conductor cable so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting or series/parallel wiring if your control cavity allows it. It’s built on a zebra bobbin (black and cream coils visible) and sized to Fender-style 53mm pole spacing, so it’s a direct fit for guitars routed for that standard rather than Gibson-spec humbucker slots.
Whether you’re chasing the sound of a classic recording or just want a bridge pickup that responds to pick attack instead of flattening it, the SSV bridge gives you that vintage-correct breathing room with enough snarl to cut through a mix.
