Description
The Suhr SSV neck humbucker is built for players chasing genuine vintage humbucker character without the squashed, compressed feel that plagues so many high-output designs. Where the DSV leans smooth and rounded on top, the SSV pushes back with more midrange bite and snarl — think classic PAF grit, but dialed in with three decades of John Suhr’s pickup R&D behind it.
- Neck position DC resistance: 8K ohms
- 4-conductor wire for flexible coil-split/series-parallel wiring
- Zebra bobbin (black/cream)
What sets this pickup apart is its wide dynamic window. Instead of flattening your pick attack into a wall of output, the SSV lets the natural harmonics of your guitar breathe through, so chords stay articulate and single notes retain their snap even when you dig in hard. It’s the kind of pickup that rewards players who vary their touch rather than relying on the pickup to do all the work.
This SSV is finished in the classic zebra bobbin combo, giving it that unmistakable half-black, half-cream look that’s become a signature of vintage-inspired humbuckers. The same core design is also offered in solid black or white bobbins, and with chrome or gold covers if you want a more traditional appearance.
Wired with 4-conductor cable, it’s ready for coil-splitting or series/parallel switching if your wiring setup calls for it. Drop it into the neck position for warm, articulate leads and full-bodied rhythm tones that still cut through a mix without turning to mud.
