Description
Before Suhr ever wound a coil for the V60LP, John Suhr was busy dissecting genuinely great vintage single-coils – the ones that actually earned their reputation, rather than the merely old ones. He measured magnet gauss, counted coil turns by hand, and worked backward from the pickups that sounded right to figure out why. The V60LP is what came out the other end: a faithful recreation of that early-60s handwound character, using the same style of magnets found in pickups from that era.
Sonically, that means the things vintage single-coils get right when they’re built right – glassy, bell-like top end that never turns brittle, mids with real push behind them, and low end that stays firm instead of ballooning. The handwound-style construction is what gives the highs their sweeter, rounder edge rather than an icy glare.
This set is configured for players who want the classic S-style spread with a couple of practical upgrades baked in: the middle pickup is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity to cancel hum in the in-between positions, and the bridge is wound hotter to push back against the usual single-coil bridge thinness and give solos a bit more shove.
- DC Resistance: 7.2K ohms (bridge), 6.3K ohms (neck and middle)
- Parchment covers
- Middle pickup wired RWRP for quack without hum
- Hotter-wound bridge pickup for added output and bite
