Tom Anderson’s SF-Series rewrites what a hum-canceling single coil is supposed to sound like. Instead of the thin, sterile quack you get from most noiseless designs, the SF pickups deliver that airy, effervescent sparkle real vintage coils are famous for — soft, lush highs and all — but without the 60-cycle buzz that comes along for the ride on a traditional single coil.
This set pairs three pickups engineered to work together across the neck, middle, and bridge positions:
- SF2 — Hot single coil voice, hum-canceling. Dialed in for neck and middle duty where a little extra output helps the pickup sing.
- SF2R — Same hot, hum-canceling character as the SF2, but reverse wound for proper hum-cancellation when paired with another SF pickup in a middle position, and to keep your switching options quiet and musical.
- SF3 — Steps the output up another notch, still hum-canceling. Built for the bridge, where its added heat balances out against Anderson’s SF1 in the neck or middle.
Finished in black, this set is aimed at players who want the classic single coil personality — the chime, the snap, the touch sensitivity — without sacrificing quiet operation.
