The Yosemite set takes the classic Strat® single-coil formula and refines it with a deliberate mix of magnet types across the three pickups — alnico 4 and alnico 2 working together rather than a single uniform magnet throughout the set. That blend is the key to the voice here: you get the airy top-end shimmer and glassy attack players expect from a good Strat pickup, but with a touch more midrange body and dynamic push under your pick attack.
Plain enamel coated wire was chosen deliberately for this build. It’s a simpler, more vintage-correct wire coating that tends to let more of the pickup’s natural harmonic content through, contributing to the open, expressive character Yosemite pickups are known for. The result is a set that responds musically whether you’re playing clean and articulate rhythm parts or digging in for something with more grit and dynamics.
Because each position uses magnets suited to its role, the set is voiced as a cohesive whole rather than three identical pickups — bridge, middle, and neck each pull their own weight, giving you a balanced feel across all five switch positions.
