Description
This pairing exists because DiMarzio’s Air Norton kept stealing the show as a neck pickup, even though it was built to be the airbucker cousin of the Norton. In the neck slot (DP193FW, F-spaced for trem-equipped guitars), it’s deep and open without turning to mud, hot without smearing into distortion, and it throws off harmonics you rarely get from a neck humbucker. The patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull, so sustain holds and your pick attack stays expressive rather than compressed. Pair it with 500K pots if you want maximum air and treble sparkle.
Down at the bridge sits the DP155FW Tone Zone, also F-spaced. Think of it as the antidote to thin, buzzy-sounding bridge pickups — it’s genuinely high output, but dynamic enough that digging in gives you real power while backing off cleans things up nicely. Dual-resonance coils (patented) keep overtones alive even at this output level, so single notes stay articulate and chords sound massive rather than smeared. Split it for a surprisingly usable single-coil voice.
Together, this is a classic power-and-clarity combo suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars, especially anyone chasing medium-to-high output tones with texture intact. Comes in white and includes a free set of Elixir Custom Light guitar strings.
