Description
This set pairs two of DiMarzio’s most versatile humbuckers, finished in Black and Creme, and throws in a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings so you’re ready to string up and go.
The DP193BC Air Norton lives in the neck position here, and it’s earned a reputation as one of the more expressive neck pickups around. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string-pull, which translates to better sustain and a much wider dynamic window between soft picking and dug-in attack. Expect a deep, warm tone that never turns to mud, plus harmonic content that’s genuinely uncommon for a neck humbucker. Wired with 4-conductor cable and built around an Alnico 5 magnet, it outputs around 270mV with 12.58 Kohm DC resistance. Try it into 500K pots if you want to keep the top end and harmonics singing.
Anchoring the bridge is the DP155BC Tone Zone, DiMarzio’s answer to thin, buzzy bridge tone. It’s a hot pickup, but not a one-note screamer — dig in and it delivers serious low-end push and huge chord voicings, back off and it cleans up nicely. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtones alive even at this output level, and it splits to a convincing single-coil voice if your wiring supports coil-tapping. Also 4-conductor with an Alnico 5 magnet, it measures roughly 375mV output at 17.31 Kohm DC resistance.
Together, this combo covers a lot of ground — from articulate, harmonically rich cleans to thick, saturated lead tone — making it a strong option for solid body and semi-hollow guitars alike.
