DiMarzio built this pickup around a patent-pending four-coil design, engineered specifically to cancel hum while preserving the nuance and character of a vintage-style P90. Instead of shoehorning a P90 into a humbucker’s clothing tonally, they reworked the internals so the pickup still feels and responds like the real thing — you just lose the noise floor that’s always come attached to it.
