Description
Think of The Chopper as the Fast Track 1’s beefier sibling — same DNA, more attitude. DiMarzio built this one around side-by-side coils and full-length twin-blade construction, so instead of individual pole pieces lining up (or not) with your strings, you get even magnetic coverage across the whole width of the string set. No thin spots, no string-pull drag on your tuning, no fighting alignment when you swap string gauges.
Where it splits from the Fast Track 1 is voicing: The Chopper concentrates its extra power in the midrange and low end, delivering a bigger, punchier signal with noticeably more crunch on tap. It’s the pickup you reach for when a Strat-style single-coil slot needs to hang with dirtier amps or drive pedals without folding.
DiMarzio’s original intent was bridge-position duty, paired up with The Cruiser and Fast Track 1 for a three-pickup humbucker-in-disguise setup that still looks like a stock single-coil pickguard. But don’t box it into just one role — it’s equally at home in the neck position if you’ve got a hot humbucker holding down the bridge and need something that won’t get steamrolled in comparison.
- Twin-blade, side-by-side coil design (humbucker-style noise cancellation)
- Fits standard single-coil routing and pickguards
- Aged White cover with Nickel poles
- Voiced for extra mid/low output and crunch versus the Fast Track 1
- Works well as a bridge pickup solo or as part of a Cruiser/Fast Track 1 trio
