Description
The PowerTap Earth isn’t just another soundhole pickup—it’s two distinct signal sources working in tandem. Fishman paired their proven Rare Earth Humbucker (neodymium magnets, active electronics, that familiar warm-but-articulate string balance) with an entirely new body sensor that lives on the soundboard, picking up the percussive language of the instrument itself: taps, slaps, harmonics, and the natural air moving through the top.
What makes this system worth the install is the Blend control, tucked discreetly onto the soundhole unit. Run a standard mono cable and you get one cohesive tone with the two sources mixed to taste. Swap to a stereo cable and the system automatically splits into dual channels—now you can send the Rare Earth to one amp or DI and the Tap sensor to another, running separate EQ, effects, and levels on each. For anyone building percussive fingerstyle arrangements, looping, or just chasing a wider stereo image from a single acoustic, that’s a real creative tool, not a gimmick.
- Rare Earth Humbucker delivers warm, full, feedback-resistant tone via neodymium magnets and active circuitry
- New Tap body sensor captures touch, ambience, and percussive dynamics without feedback risk
- Onboard Blend control mixes both signals in mono or splits them to stereo automatically based on cable choice
- Fits soundholes down to 3-5/8
