Description
Nylon-string players know that most pickups flatten out the very thing that makes a classical guitar special: its complex, breathing top. The Anthem SL takes a different route by pairing a featherlight internal microphone with a discreet undersaddle transducer, so you get the air and body of a mic’d guitar without wrestling feedback onstage.
- The Tru-Mic mounts to the bridge plate inside the guitar’s X-bracing, sitting just 3mm from the top. At only half an ounce, it doesn’t choke the guitar’s natural resonance, and its close positioning lets it pick up the entire vibrating soundboard while staying well ahead of feedback compared to typical mic/pickup hybrids.
- The Element undersaddle transducer steps in purely to reinforce the low end, adding punch and low-string authority under the mic’s signal. It’s built to accommodate standard string spacing and saddle widths for even output string to string.
- All the signal blending happens in the Preamp/Endpin Jack, which houses discrete, studio-grade circuitry preset to an optimal mic/transducer mix. Installation calls for a 1/2″ endpin hole.
- A lightweight volume control sticks to the inside edge of the soundhole for easy reach, and it doubles as a mic gain trim so you can dial in the mic’s presence on the fly.
The system ships with a wiring harness, battery connector, no-drill battery bag, adhesive wire clips, and peel-and-stick mounting pads for the mic, volume control, and battery bag. Runs on a single 9V battery for roughly 170 hours of playing time. Note: LR Baggs recommends professional installation, particularly for the undersaddle element.
