Description
The Burgundy is the beefier sibling in the Lace Sensor lineup, tuned for players who want single-coil sparkle with a fatter low-mid push — ideal for the bridge slot where a little extra girth balances out a thinner-sounding neck pickup.
Like every Sensor, the Burgundy ditches the traditional bobbin-and-magnet formula in favor of Lace’s Micro Combs® and a Radiant Field Barrier that wraps the coil and magnets in a shielded housing. Instead of the 4-12 magnetic “sensing” points you’d get from a conventional pickup, the Burgundy generates 36 separate sensing fields across the string, reading a much larger swath of vibration while rejecting 60-cycle hum far more effectively.
Because the design senses so efficiently, it can run on lower-energy magnets. That matters more than you’d think: weaker magnetic pull means less string damping, so notes ring out longer and hold their true pitch instead of getting yanked flat by an overpowering magnet. The payoff is a single coil that’s quieter than it has any right to be, with a broader harmonic spread and noticeably longer sustain.
- 36 individual sensing fields vs. 4-12 in standard pickups
- Radiant Field Barrier for hum rejection and a wider, more focused sensing field
- Lower-energy magnets reduce string drag for improved sustain and pitch stability
- Recommended bridge position for a fatter, fuller tone
- White cover
Setup tip: Lace recommends setting string-to-pickup height at .170″ — roughly the stacked thickness of two dimes and a nickel — measured from the bottom of the string closest to the pole.
