Description
Seymour Duncan’s original JB and Jazz humbuckers are already legends, but the Antiquity versions dig into what those pickups actually sounded like decades into their life — worn magnets, oxidized parts, and all the mellowing that comes with age, minus the wait. This set marks the first time Seymour applied his aging process to the classic 1970s-era JB/Jazz pairing, and he had plenty of well-loved originals in his own collection to reference.
Tonally, expect the JB’s push toward harmonic complexity and sustain paired with the Jazz’s clarity, but softened by the simulated dust, sweat, and oxidation baked into every Antiquity pickup. It’s the same DNA as the standard JB/Jazz set, just broken in. That vibe extends to the look too — the aged nickel covers and worn edges suit a guitar with some mileage, or one you want to look like it has some.
Both pickups in the set carry the full Antiquity treatment:
- Electronic and cosmetic aging
- Long mounting legs
- Single conductor wire
- Maple spacer
- Butyrate bobbins
- Custom de-gaussed rough cast Alnico V bar magnets
Spec-wise, the Jazz reads 7.72k Ohms DC resistance with a 7kHz resonant peak, while the JB sits at 16.4k Ohms with a 5.5kHz resonant peak — the same numbers guitarists have chased since the originals first shipped.
This bundle also throws in a set of Ernie Ball EB2220 Power Slinky strings, so once your new pickups are wired in, you’ve got fresh strings ready to go along with them.
Built for dual-humbucker guitars, and especially at home in an instrument that’s already earned some character of its own.
