Description
Seymour Duncan didn’t just chase the sound of a vintage P90 with the Antiquity — they rebuilt it the way it was originally made. Pull the aged black dog-ear cover off and you’ll see the same hand-wound bobbins, cloth-covered wire, and “flatback” tape construction found in pickups pulled from an old ’52 goldtop or a ’59 ES-330. This isn’t a reissue with a relic’d shell slapped on top; the guts are period-correct too.
Each pickup uses a pair of specially calibrated Dun-Aged Alnico II magnets seated on a precision metal spacer, which pushes the magnetic field out to the strings through six fillister head pole pieces. The result is that woody, slightly compressed, growl-and-bark tone P90s are famous for — grittier than a humbucker, fatter than a Strat single coil, and endlessly fun to push into overdrive.
This set pairs a neck pickup (Top Going winding, north polarity) with a bridge pickup (Top Coming winding, south polarity) for correct hum-cancelling behavior when combined, and both come calibrated for balanced output across positions. Dimensions and electrical specs are matched to genuine vintage dog-ear P90 footprints, so drop-in fit into an existing dog-ear route should be straightforward.
