Description
The Scourge is the bridge half of Mark Holcomb’s signature pickup set, born out of his work with Periphery and his reliance on high-gain amp-modeling tones. Chasing the same clarity his modeler gave him on record, Holcomb worked directly with Seymour Duncan’s engineers to build a humbucker that could keep dense, drop-tuned chords legible instead of turning to mush under gain.
Loaded with an Alnico 8 magnet, the Scourge leans into a more controlled, modern low-end response paired with a focused midrange push — exactly what you want when you’re tracking tight rhythm parts on a 7-string without losing note separation. It’s voiced to complement its neck-position sibling, the ceramic-loaded Scarlet, rounding out a set built specifically around Holcomb’s playing rather than adapted from an existing design.
This particular unit is the 7-string bridge pickup finished with a matte black cover, matching the stealth aesthetic Holcomb favors on his own guitars.
- Bridge position pickup for 7-string guitars
- Alnico 8 magnet
- Matte black cover
- Part of Mark Holcomb’s Scarlet & Scourge signature set
- Voiced for coil splitting, drop tunings, and complex chord clarity under high gain
If you’re chasing Holcomb’s tightened-up, modern metal tone on an extended-range instrument, this is the bridge pickup that anchors it.
