Description
The Quarter Pound Staggered RW/RP takes Seymour Duncan’s beefed-up single-coil formula and flips the winding and polarity, making it the natural partner for a middle or neck pickup when you want dead-quiet hum cancellation in position 2 or 4. Under the hood it’s the same concept that makes the standard Quarter Pound famous: oversized, hand-polished quarter-inch magnets paired with a hot coil wind, pushing output and sustain well past what a vintage-style single-coil can offer.
Unlike its flat-pole sibling the SSL-4, this one uses a staggered magnet pattern, which balances string-to-string output more evenly and keeps things articulate under aggressive pick attack. Tonally it lands in the same neighborhood as the SSL-4 Quarter-Pound Flat — thick, punchy, and full of harmonic detail — but with that staggered response players expect from a traditional single-coil layout.
No cover here, so you get the pickup in its raw, exposed-bobbin form, ready to drop into blues, classic rock, garage rock, heavy rock, and even classic or nu-metal rigs that need more push than a stock single-coil can deliver.
