Description
The SH-1B ’59 brings Seymour Duncan’s late-’50s-inspired humbucker sound to extended-range players. Built as the 7-string version of the classic ’59 model, it’s designed to capture that vintage PAF character with a bit more low-end real estate to work with, without losing the clarity that made the original famous.
- Late-’50s, vintage-correct humbucker voicing
- Warm, crystalline clean tones with plenty of shimmer
- Full, bright distorted tones that stay defined even with heavy gain
- Smooth, singing sustain
- 4-conductor hookup wire for coil-splitting and phase options
- Vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance at higher volumes
Compared to the SH-55 Seth Lover, the ’59 leans into slightly more scooped mids, giving it a snappier, more open feel that works across a surprisingly wide stylistic range—think country twang, jazz warmth, bluesy grit, funk chime, and both classic and heavy rock crunch. It’s a genuinely versatile pickup rather than a one-trick vintage reissue.
Duncan offers this model in both neck and bridge configurations, and a common pairing is a ’59 in the neck alongside a hotter bridge pickup like the SH-4 JB or SH-13 Dimebucker—giving you vintage sparkle up front and modern push in back. Available here in black, ready to drop into your 7-string.
