Description
This set pairs Seymour Duncan’s two most trusted humbuckers into one cover-matched, gold-plated combo built for players who want vintage vibe without giving up modern bite.
In the neck, the SH-1n ’59 Model sticks close to Seth Lover’s original Patent Applied For design — alnico magnets, plain enamel wire, nickel-plated studs, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape, all wound to the balanced coil spec of the era. Expect a smooth, woody, sustain-rich voice with enough low-end weight to anchor chords without turning to mud.
In the bridge, the SH-5 Duncan Custom takes that PAF blueprint and pushes it harder. A ceramic magnet and custom coil winding tighten up the dynamics, push the midrange forward, and add a punchy, controlled low end — the reason it’s earned the nickname “PAF on steroids.” It stays articulate in drop tunings instead of collapsing into mush, making it a favorite for classic rock, hard rock, funk, punk, R&B, and metal alike. It’s especially well matched to rosewood fingerboards and pairs naturally with a ’59 neck for that vintage-front, aggressive-back tonal split.
Both pickups:
- Gold covers for a matched, premium look
- Four-conductor lead wire for full coil-splitting and phase flexibility
- SH-1n includes wiring diagram and mounting screws
As a bonus, this bundle includes a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings — so once the wiring’s done, you’re ready to plug in and dig in.
