Description
The Pearly Gates was born from a single mission: capture the exact tone stamped into a ’59 Les Paul Standard that helped define an entire era of gritty, blues-soaked rock. Seymour Duncan nailed it, and then some — this humbucker runs a touch hotter than true vintage-spec pickups while keeping that same sweet, singing character. There’s an edge to it, though. Push it hard and it snarls back with a rowdy midrange bite and a shimmering top end that makes pinch harmonics leap out effortlessly.
Sustain is a big part of the story here. Notes bloom and hang rather than fading fast, which is exactly why this pickup became a go-to for blues, southern rock, jam bands, and classic hard rock alike. It’s equally happy carrying a slow-burn solo or driving a riff into overdrive.
- Slightly hotter output than a strict vintage humbucker
- Four-conductor hookup cable for coil-split and series/parallel wiring options
- Works well in either neck or bridge position for a complete set
This pickup shines brightest on guitars that already lean toward the brighter side — maple and ebony fingerboards bring out its clarity without losing any warmth, and it also plays exceptionally well with hollow and semi-hollow bodies.
Rounding out this bundle is a set of Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings, so you can get your rewired guitar strung up and ready to play the moment the soldering iron cools down.
