Description
If you’ve ever wanted your Tele to sound like it just rolled out of a Fullerton workshop in 1954, this is the set that gets you there. Seymour Duncan paired the STL-1 lead pickup with the STR-1 rhythm pickup to reproduce the exact character of an original vintage Telecaster — bright, biting, and full of character in the bridge, smooth and airy in the neck.
The STL-1 bridge pickup uses standard .187″ diameter Alnico 5 pole pieces, raised under the D and G strings just like the originals. That staggered height gives it a snappy, cutting edge with slightly less output than the STL-1b, so the high-end detail stays sharp and articulate rather than compressed. It comes wired with waxed cloth hookup cable for that authentic feel and look.
The STR-1 neck pickup balances things out with warmer lower-mids and open, airy highs — the classic complement to a twangy bridge pickup. It’s finished with a chrome-plated brass cover and also uses waxed cloth hookup cable, keeping the whole set visually and tonally consistent.
Together, these two pickups suit players chasing traditional country, country pop, chicken pickin’, rockabilly, surf, blues, and blues-rock tones. They work well in balanced Telecasters regardless of fingerboard wood, whether maple or rosewood.
- STL-1: bridge/lead position pickup, vintage ’54-spec Alnico 5 poles
- STR-1: neck/rhythm position pickup, chrome-plated brass cover
- Both include waxed cloth hookup cable
- Correct factory-matched pairing for a vintage-voiced Telecaster
