Description
This set pairs Seymour Duncan’s STR-1 rhythm pickup with the STL-1 lead pickup for a Telecaster that sounds like it just rolled out of a 1950s honky-tonk. It’s the go-to combo for traditional country, country pop, rockabilly, surf, blues, and blues-rock players chasing that unmistakable vintage twang.
- STR-1 (neck): A faithful recreation of the ’50s Tele rhythm pickup, delivering a warm, open tone with rounded low-mids and shimmering top end that balances out the bridge pickup’s snap. Fitted with a chrome-plated brass cover and waxed cloth lead wire.
- STL-1 (bridge): Modeled after the 1954 original, this pickup uses standard .187″ Alnico 5 pole pieces raised under the D and G strings for authentic chicken-pickin’ bite. Output runs slightly lower than the STL-1b, favoring bright, biting high-end detail. Also wired with waxed cloth cable.
The STR-1 and STL-1 are designed as a matched pair — the STR-1 only comes configured for the neck position, and the STL-1 is bridge-only, so there’s no guesswork about which goes where. They work equally well on maple or rosewood boards, making them a solid drop-in upgrade for any well-balanced Telecaster.
Rounding out the bundle is a set of Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings, so you can get your rewired Tele strung up and gigging right away.
