Description
The SA-1 is the standard-bearer of Tom Anderson’s SA series — a family of hum-canceling pickups built in a familiar single-coil footprint. Share the same construction as Tom Anderson’s SD Series, but the SA series is tuned for a thicker, more full-bodied midrange without sacrificing note clarity, which makes it a natural fit for hollow body instruments and swamp ash bodied guitars that can sometimes read a little thin or glassy on top.
Within the SA family, the SA-1 sits at medium/normal output and is by far the most requested of the bunch. If you’re after a bit more push and fullness, the SA-2 steps things up, and the SA-2+ goes hotter still — a smart pairing for the bridge position when you want to balance output against SA-1 units in the neck and middle.
For players building hum-canceling combinations through coil-splitting, Tom Anderson also offers reverse-wound versions of each model: SA-1R, SA-2R, and SA-2+R.
