Description
The VA-7+ is Tom Anderson’s answer to the age-old single-coil dilemma: how do you get real vintage character without the shrill highs or muddy compression that plague so many staggered-magnet pickups? This one splits the difference by leaning slightly hotter than a standard VA, which makes it a natural fit when you need the neck and bridge positions to feel like they’re speaking the same language in output and feel.
Underneath, it’s still built on the same philosophy as the rest of the VA-Series: staggered magnets and a winding approach that favors fullness and warmth over that glassy, over-wound harshness some single coils get stuck with. Top end stays smooth and inviting rather than icy or biting, so you get sweetness on the highs without ever venturing into brittle territory. Mids and lows come through lush and rounded, giving the pickup a body that feels bigger than a typical vintage-style single coil.
It ships bare, without a cover, so you can wire it exactly how you like straight out of the box. If you’re building or upgrading one of your own Anderson guitars and want it to look the part too, covers are available separately in coffee-dipped, black, or white finishes to match your build.
- VA-Series staggered magnet single coil
