Description
W.L. Van Zandt cut his teeth rewinding pickups for fellow Texas players back in the 1960s, and that decades-deep obsession with vintage PAF tone lives on in the Tru Bucker. This isn’t a copy chasing spec sheets—it’s built by ear, aiming squarely at the sound that made Les Pauls and 335s legendary.
Output is nudged just slightly above the old originals, giving you a touch more push without losing the airy, open character that defines true PAF tone. Expect generous top end paired with a solid low-end foundation, and a pickup that responds sharply to how hard you dig in—light touch stays clean and articulate, dig in harder and it snarls back.
- Voiced after the classic PAF pickups found in vintage Les Pauls, 335s, and similar guitars
- Slightly hotter output than original PAFs, vintage tone intact
- Strong top-end sparkle balanced with solid bottom end
- Highly attack-sensitive—dynamics translate directly to tone
- 4-conductor wiring for coil splitting and wiring versatility
- Well suited to rock, rhythm and blues, country, and rockabilly
If you’re chasing that elusive PAF magic with just a bit more grit under the hood, this is a pickup built by someone who’s spent a lifetime figuring out what made the originals sing.
